“Without the help of Springs Rescue Mission, my family and I would be out on the streets or living at a shelter.” – a single mom
EVERY WEEK Springs Rescue Mission provides more than 3,000 meals to men, women and children through our Food Service Department.
EVERY YEAR Springs Rescue Mission helps more than 4,500 local families with emergency food, clothing and other assistance.
Springs Rescue Mission is inviting local churches to help our struggling neighbors by hosting a Neighbor Sunday event.

When asked, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus told the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37). The moral of his gripping tale is clear: Our neighbor is anyone we come across who is in need. We have a responsibility to not just meet their immediate needs but to see to their long-term care until they can get back on their feet. It’s as simple as neighbors helping neighbors!
Let Springs Rescue Mission be a resource to your church — we desire to help give better understanding on what it means to be a Good Neighbor, as well as give your congregation a practical and easy way to help see to the long-term care for our neighbors needs.
In the story of the Good Samaritan, after the Samaritan bandaged the hurting man’s wounds and brought him to the inn, he gave the innkeeper two denarii to see to his long-term needs.
According to this story, there are two ways we can take care of a hurting neighbor:
1. We can see to their practical needs
2. We can help provide denarri (finances) to take care of ongoing/long-term needs
The parable of the Good Samaritan ends with Jesus’ words, “Now go and do likewise.” This is what Neighbor Sunday is all about!
One way people in your congregation can help provide denarri for our neighbors’ ongoing needs is through our Neighbors of Hope monthly partnership program. A Neighbor of Hope partners with Springs Rescue Mission by giving $32 or more a month to make a lasting difference in the fight against poverty.
Many of our neighbors in the Pikes Peak Region live in poverty. Basic things like food, clothing and shelter present daunting challenges for them. Unexpected expenses may require a choice between paying rent or purchasing food, keeping the lights on or buying clothes.
Please consider hosting a Neighbor Sunday. How Does My Church Participate in Neighbor Sunday? Choose one Sunday as Neighbor Sunday. Springs Rescue Mission will provide the materials you need for sermon notes, flyers, Neighbor of Hope response cards, etc. For more information call 719-314-2391. To sign up today, click here.
